Our English orals were quite catastrophic today, being inhabited by Willis and Frank (two boys who don't talk), to the point where Ms. Barret asked (tactfully) if anyone would like to join the discussion group. I do feel sorry for Willis though because he seems to have some strange discussion-phobia thing going on- common sense would dictate that when a teacher asked you, "Would you like to comment on (such and such)" you'd at the least decline the offer, instead of sitting in mute silence for a few minutes. Maybe it's just really hard for him; he was going through the same discussion anxiety in physics today that I was going through in physics on Tuesday. The discussions are a lot harder than presentations because you can't really prepare what you're going to say ahead of time; it's like your own private seminar hell, or like someone's pitching baseballs at you for 45 minutes straight and you have to scramble to catch each one, or like balancing a pitcher of water on your head.
You know what? I still can't spell "incandescant." E... Angie.. e...

Textbook History
The yellow highlighter trails neon butter
on gunmetal print.
The wind turns paper leaves.
A pink cardboard
rebound covers the rubel as fall
covers an unstable Earth.
Over the wide girth of Mr Thomas
writing, the war is on.
First piece of Palmer fanfiction. I want the IB to take over fanfiction.net. That's my goal. I'm not really this pretentious in my writing- I was parodying something. Kudos if you know what it is.

Go fry an egg. MATE! heh. Silly Brits. You know what is an utterly lame word? "Lifemate." In fantasy/sci-fi. For God's sake, if it's your husband or your wife, SAY so! If you're not married, it's boyfriend/girlfriend/partner/lover/mistress/paramour/concubine/fiance/significant other/"my gal"... LIFEMATE??? unless you're some sort of monkey, that term is such a piece of turd.

My "Real Medici" rap is not going well. I can't think of anything that rhymes with Medici, or most words in 15th century Italian anyways. It's so unhelpful to find out today that it's pronounce MEDici. It complicates things further. I think I'm appreciating "free style rhyme" a lot more. I don't think this rap will ever see the light of day. It's not a bad rap. Well, it *is* a bad rap. The worst thing is though, it's just not funny.
Ms Martin is being contradictory. Again. She wants us to be more enthusiastic in class. But when we are, she's like, You're offensive and distracting. Jeebus. NOTE: IF YOU HAVE NO PEOPLE SKILLS, DON'T BECOME A TEACHER!! I think we're as good enough to her as can be expected. It's not like we throw spitballs in the room or insult her. We're just dispassionately academic. Which must drive her nuts. Sort of like how Andrew drives me nuts. She tells us to do things; we do it. We don't do it joyfully. Whoop de DOO. I don't know what she wants. If she wants us to be enthusiastic, which, IMHO, is not one of the rights demanded by her position of authority (as opposed to basic respect and courtsey) she ought to make it feel like we can say what we'd like without arbitrarily yelling at us. If she wants us to talk, she shouldn't expect everything we say to be Head Up My Ass Profound.
